Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan in 2017-18 and Controversy on Astrologer

When astrologer Anirudh Kumar Mishra was a lesser known and lesser followed figure on Twitter, he made a prediction related to Pakistan. This prediction went unnoticed as he had quite less number of followers on Twitter at that point of time. However, this prediction related to terrorist attacks happening in Pakistan within November 2017.

However, on December 1, 2017, several burqa clad Taliban militants stormed an agricultural training institute in Peshawar killing at least 12 people and injuring about 32 people in the fire which they opened. A news item covering the tragic incident can be read here. Mishra quoted the above tweet and tweeted that his prediction about a terrorist attack in Pakistan proved to be correct, but it was delayed by only one day than its predicted period.

#PeshawarAttack Right prediction but error of a day. Next prediction is Pakistan will go through 5 major terrorist attacks till mid February. https://t.co/6LKH055Wtq

This tweet caught the attention of one of the senators named A Rehman Malik in Pakistan and he wrote to the country’s Interior Ministry to investigate how an Indian could predict the act of terrorism in a tweet. He further alarmed them by saying that the same Indian national had predicted five more terrorist attacks on Pakistan. Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune covered this story on Mishra and it can read at this link. These assertions alleging the involvement of an Indian, who happened to be only astrologer, reflected the inability of Pakistani law makers to cover up their failures. The astrologer wrote the following tweet in reply to the article of The Express Tribune and stated that panic due to prediction of an astrologer was unwarranted and he further clarified that he was not from any ‘agency’ as he had already alerted about this terrorist attack.

https://t.co/SsDaLsRoRj Why so much panic on an astrologer in Pakistan? I have predicted about earthquake, elections and sports too. If i was from any agency why i would have alerted you? My prediction of terrorist attack on USA came true as well. @etribune @timesofindia pic.twitter.com/Ad9Jrp2fWz

After this tweet, Mishra responded to a Twitter handle supposed to be from Peshawar city and said that he was a neutral astrologer and was a well wisher of everyone, and ascertained that he would keep making predictions related to every country and in every field.

Thanks Farzana Shah, I’m a neutral astrologer is a well wisher of everyone, I will keep predicting and suggesting every country in every field.🙏 https://t.co/n8ePPK9r0q

His prediction that Pakistan would go through 5 terrorist attacks till mid February also came true. On 4 February 2018, 11 soldiers were killed in a suicide attack at an army camp in Swat valley (read news here) and the astrologer reiterated that Pakistan should be cautious of its internal security till mid-February.

#SwatAttack Prediction was right, it’s still happening, stars were showing that Pakistan had to keep itself safe from internal threats till mid February and I alarmed them before. https://t.co/bvtCHnkJiL
